They make it even clearer that this case is not merely a legal dispute, but also a matter of the enforcement of rule‑of‑law guarantees and the genuine protection of historical church communities.
As is known, the case of the Oradea Premonstratensian monastery has generated significant public and ecclesiastical attention in recent months. The authorities previously initiated the eviction of the order’s abbot, citing a final court ruling and a public‑interest investment, raising serious concerns about the legal security of historical church communities. At the heart of the conflict lies the municipality’s position that both the monastery and the adjoining school building are the property of the city, a stance it seeks to reinforce through EU‑funded renovation plans.

The Mikó Imre Legal Aid Service finds Dan Tanasă’s latest anti-Hungarian statement deeply outrageous, this time made in connection with the restoration of the Rákóczi Castle in Gyimesbükk (Ghimeș-Făget). The AUR member of parliament once again made remarks that not only attack the historical and cultural heritage of the Hungarian community in Romania, but also deliberately contribute to fueling ethnic tensions.
It is especially concerning that all this happened precisely during the Csíksomlyó pilgrimage, when hundreds of thousands of people take part in religious pilgrimage and spiritual reflection. While believers were celebrating peacefully, nationalist and anti-Hungarian actors once again used the occasion for provocation. Mihai Tîrnoveanu, leader of the radical organization Calea Neamului, posed with a Romanian flag at the Rákóczi Castle in Gyimesbükk (Ghimeș-Făget) and sent a message to Hungarians heading to Csíksomlyó in an obviously provocative tone intended to humiliate the Hungarian community.

The Mikó Imre Legal Protection Service has learned with shock and outrage that George Simion, president of the AUR, is attempting to downplay his active involvement in the cemetery occupation incident that took place at the military cemetery in the Úz Valley. During the incident, a violent crowd—of which Simion was also a member—forced open the cemetery gate, assaulted peaceful Hungarian individuals who were praying and defending the cemetery, and then played Romanian folk music, climbed onto the crosses, and waved flags to the rhythm of the music.
Our Service once again draws attention to the fact that, despite having successfully won all legal cases, and as a result the municipality of Dărmănești being compelled to remove the unlawfully erected crosses, the extremist, virulently anti-Hungarian and fascist organization that serves as the civil wing of the AUR, namely Calea Neamului, erected new crosses in the cemetery after the final court ruling, blatantly disregarding the law. As a result, these illegal crosses remain present in the cemetery despite the court having clearly declared them unlawful.

On Easter 2026, the celebration of the Resurrection of Christ, an incident took place in Bölön that caused deep concern and indignation within the Hungarian community of Transylvania. On the first day of Easter, while the local community was celebrating in a spirit of devotion, members of the group known as Calea Neamului marched through the village streets, waving flags and shouting, accompanied by inflammatory, provocative, and intimidating statements. These actions not only violated the dignity of the holiday but also directly affected the sense of security of the local Hungarian community.

As is well known, in recent months FK Csíkszereda has been fined on several occasions by the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) because Szekler and Hungarian flags were displayed in the stadium. Particular attention should be drawn to the most recent fine of 37,968.75 lei, which is the largest sanction of this kind in the club’s history and raises serious concerns within our community regarding legality and proportionality.
